Expect some changes when you come to the clubhouse this year!
We have at last decided and started to create space for another separate workshop for use as a fitting bay. This will be completely self-contained but will mean that the back doors will be opening outwards, to use as a fire escape. There will be another heater and bench fitted and the existing mezzanine floor will be raised to the level of the other side so there will be no steps on the upper level. The excess materials that were stored in that area have been moved upstairs and will be sorted out properly when the main job has been completed.

The existing workshop will have the workbench removed and a Harrison 250 lathe inserted in its place.
We have also purchased two self-assembly ballast wagons. Sometime soon we are going to need to lift the cement track bed under the trees and re-lay the ballast, and the wagons will then come in very useful. It is planned that some of this assembly work will be done by the juniors. We will have to make eight wheels and four axles.
Come and have a look or better still – help!
